GRAND FORKS – A team that had some wins but some losses during the regular season for Jamestown Blue Jays Girls Tennis stepped their play up in the state individual tournament.

Anna Hronová and Elise Roberts finished in third place in doubles in the NDHSAA State Girls Individual Championships, which concluded Saturday at Grand Forks Choice Health & Fitness.

Hronová and Roberts captured their quarterfinal match on Friday, defeating Ruby Schneider and Kalli Block of Grand Forks Red River 6-4, 6-3.

In a semifinal match Saturday, Hronová and Roberts were defeated by Minot’s Ava Thuner and Grace Olson 6-2, 7-6 (7-3).

Later Saturday, the Jamestown duo won their third place match over Ava Dunlop and Sophia Edland of Century 6-4, 6-1.

Hronová and Roberts had been 5-4 in WDA play and were not teamed up in the West Region individual tournament.
