JAMESTOWN, N.D. (Chamber) – The Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce recently helped the City of Jamestown and Jamestown Parks and Recreation celebrate the replacement of pedestrian bridges at Klaus, McElroy, and Nickeus parks with a ribbon cutting at Klaus Park.

The bridge at Klaus Park was a fitting place to mark the project because it connects city property with Jamestown Parks and Recreation property. The City and Parks and Recreation worked together to replace all three bridges, setting aside the question of which organization owned what and focusing instead on what served the community best.

The project replaced three aging park bridges with wider structures designed to improve access and make maintenance easier. The Klaus Park bridge dates back to 1908, the Nickeus Park bridge dates back to 1909, and the McElroy Park bridge was built after 1957. The new bridges were built to improve access, safety, and long-term use in some of Jamestown’s most visited park spaces.

This work helps residents and visitors keep moving through parks, trails, and public spaces with fewer barriers. It also shows what can happen when local organizations plan together for the people they both serve. Community members are encouraged to visit Klaus, McElroy, and Nickeus parks and use the new pedestrian bridges.
