funeral service for Nar Alice (Pifer Holm) Chesla, 74, of Coolidge, AZ and Soldotna, AK, will be 10:30 am Monday, May 15, 2017 at the Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City.  Burial will be in Memory Gardens, Valley City.  She died peacefully surrounded by family in Mesa, Arizona on February 22, 2017.

The earth lost a truly blithe spirit. Fun-loving and effervescent, she brought happiness and joy to everyone she met. An avid traveler she enjoyed the thrill of new places. She will be remembered and missed for her beautiful smile, her sometimes feisty opinion, love of life and unyielding devotion to family and friends. Nar was always on the spot with a camera capturing precious moments for family and friends. Helping women feel good about themselves was foremost in Nar’s efforts as a hair dresser for over 40 years in North Dakota and Alaska.

Nar is predeceased by her husband Leo Holm and parents Roy and Jewel (DeWeese) Pifer. Nar is survived by her loving husband Joe Chesla of 18 years. They were married in Anchorage, Alaska on January 23, 1999.

Nar is lovingly remembered by her son Nathan Holm and DeAnna Berger, also step children Sandy and Mike Larson, Joe and Lynn Chesla, Pam Chesla, and Marcia Combs; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Brenda (Bob) Hientzelman, Jamestown, ND, Rita (Glen) Thieszen, Colorado Springs, CO, and Sue (Dale) Twedt, Audubon, MN; and lots of the Holm relatives in Valley City, ND with many nieces and nephews in MN and ND.

Nar was born in Bismarck, ND on September 21, 1942. She graduated from Steele High School in 1960.
