LaMoure, ND (NewsDakota.com) – LaMoure Post 19 gets the better half of the pitchers duel as they get a walk-off win in the bottom of the seventh inning to pick up the victory.
Oakes struck first in the ball game as Garret Meehl got on base the hard way as he was hit by a pitch from the LaMoure starter. Meehl wouldn’t spend too much time over at first as he would swipe second base to put himself in scoring position. With 2 out, Howie Neustel delivered an RBI double into the right field gap to brings in the games first run.
That lead lasted an inning as in the bottom of the second, LaMoure would push across the tying run thanks in part by a defensive blunder at second base.
The game would stay that way until the bottom of the seventh inning, more on that in a moment. Tonight was all about the starters for both teams. First, for the visiting Oakes, Garret Meehl got the start this evening and went 6 plus innings allowing just 1 earned run and struck out 2 batters. He did an excellent job of continuing to get first pitch strikes and hammering the strike zone. However tonight Rory Gentzkow simple owned the mound. The LaMoure right hander went the full 7 innings only allowing 1 run and striking out 7 on his way to picking up the victory.
To the bottom of the 7th, Anthony Hanson lead off the inning with a single, and would advance to second by a beautiful sacrifice bunt by James Sandness. The next batter was Connor Johnson and he wasted no time fighting off a pitch on the hands to bloop a hit into centerfield and Anthony Hanson was on his horse and would come around to score the game winning run from second base to give LaMoure the 2 to 1 victory.
