City-County Health District and CHI Mercy Health (hospital) will hold a fasting community cholesterol screening Wednesday, Sept. 18, from 7-9 a.m. (7:30-8:30 a.m. if there are not enough people participating). It will be held at the CCHD facility located at 415 2nd Ave. NE, Ste. 101 (west of Leevers North). This test will include your total cholesterol, HDL/LDL cholesterol, plus your blood glucose and triglycerides. The cost for the cholesterol (total lipid profile) screening is $35. Also offered during this wellness screening will be a free blood pressure check for all participants.
Cholesterol screening participants:
- must not drink alcoholic beverages for 3 days prior to testing.
- must not eat or drink anything for 12 hours prior to testing (see exception below).
- may take any medications needed with small amount of water.
If it has been difficult to draw blood from you in the past, it is recommended that you drink plenty of water the day previous to fasting.
