N.D. (AP) – The North Dakota Chamber of Commerce and
Governor Jack Dalrymple are launching a 20-year development plan
for the state. Dalrymple and the CEO of the state Chamber will talk
about the “2020 and Beyond” effort at news conferences today in
Minot and Fargo.
     
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – The North Dakota Senate’s Republican
majority leader says the Legislature should steer a greater share
of state oil tax collections to local governments. Rich Wardner of
Dickinson says the oil boom in western North Dakota is putting a
big strain on local schools, roads and public works.
     
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s secretary of state is
reminding people who sign ballot measure petitions to make sure the
petition carrier sees them do it. Al Jaeger says he’s heard reports
of petitions being left unattended for people to sign. That’s
against the law and Jaeger says those signatures might not be
counted. Petitions on four issues are being circulated.
     
    
VALLEY CITY, N.D. (AP) – Valley City is losing its only movie
theater. The owner of The Theater I & II says it will shut down on
Thursday after nearly three decades of operation. Wayne Loberg says
he can no longer make a go of it economically and plans to retire.
The theater has been for sale since October.
