N.D. (AP) – Governor Jack Dalrymple is offering state
assistance to try to keep an ethanol plant in northeastern North
Dakota from shutting down and laying off 61 workers. Archer Daniels
Midland plans to close the Walhalla plant in April because it isn’t
profitable enough.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s Attorney General says the
Linton School Board violated the state’s open meetings law by
discussing business over the telephone without proper public
notice. Wayne Stenehjem says the phone calls involving
board members happened last August after the Emmons County state’s
attorney requested documents related to the bidding of a contract.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Supporters of the University of North
Dakota’s Fighting Sioux nickname say the referendum campaign’s been
tough, and the struggle’s not yet over. Nickname backers turned in
more than 17,000 signatures to Secretary of State Al Jaeger last
night. Unless there are problems with the petition, it should have
more than enough names to make it onto the June primary ballot.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – Fifty-four students from eight North
Dakota high schools are competing today in the state finals of the
annual LifeSmarts competition. The winning North Dakota team
advances to nationals in Philadelphia later this year.
