(NewsDakota.com)- Jamestown College found out late last week that they will be hosting the 2013 A.I.I. National Qualifying Tournaments for men’s and women’s basketball.

The tournament took place last year in Madison, SD on the campus of Dakota State University. The 2013 tournament which will take place in late February will be played at the Jamestown Civic Center.

“I think our community will support this tournament,” said Athletic Director Lawrie Paulson yesterday. “If we are playing Valley City St. in the title game, that place will be packed.”

With the ever changing geography of the A.I.I. it is in Jamestown College’s best interest financially to host the tournament, as well as VCSU and Mayville St. who contributed to the bidding process.

Last season, Dakota State won the men’s side of the tournament thanks to a ruckus home crowd that was able to spur the Trojans past the Jimmies.  “That crowd was the difference in the game,” Head Coach Matt Murken commented after finding out that JC was awarded the tournament.

Both teams were already guaranteed bids to the National Tournament.

Cal-State San Marcos was the winner of the women’s tournament, they will find out in the next week if they are starting a transition to NCAA DII.
