(Courtesy Wheat Growers) Wheat Growers is expanding its facility and capabilities to more efficiently serve member-owners in Berlin North Dakota and the surrounding area. The expansion of Wheat Growers’ Berlin Agronomy Center is moving forward and is on schedule.

Construction started in October, and will continue through the winter for a targeted spring/summer 2013 completion. The pre-engineered, steel, fabricated building is located west of the current Wheat Growers facility. The 100’ wide, 250’ long building will include: a 100 foot by 40 foot shop, a chemical and seed warehouse, an interior bulk chemical dike with automated load and unload capabilities, a loading dock and a 20 foot by 70 foot office.

The office will be positioned on the south side of the warehouse. It will have restrooms, a shower for employee chemical safety, three offices and a two-tiered counter for patron interaction.

“Our goal is growth, and this expansion will enable us to better serve our current customers and new customers. This will be more efficient for the farmer and us. For example, if a producer wants a hundred gallons of bulk chemical, we’ll be able to serve him right here. It will all be metered and scaled. There will be a lot of efficiencies all the way around.” said Merlin Maas, Manager of the Berlin facility.
