CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The new bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Fargo John Folda gave a one hour presentation at St. Catherine Catholic Church July, 30 in Valley City.

Folda talked about how several patron saints helped the church keep its spiritual focus from the middle ages into the modern world of today.

Folda was appointed to the position by Pope Francis in April making him the eighth bishop of the Fargo diocese, which serves more than 72,000 parishioners in eastern North Dakota.

The 51-year-old Folda was ordained as the Fargo bishop in June of 2013. He succeeded Bishop Samuel Aquila who left to become archbishop of the Archdiocese of Denver in 2012.
