D.C. (NewsDakota.com) – Over 1,600 students were sent to the nation’s capital and among them were two young men sent from the Northern Plains and Dakota Valley service areas.

Cole Christensen was sent as a representative of Northern Plains Electric Cooperative and Jayden Conant was sent representing Dakota Valley Electric Cooperative. The Electric Cooperative Tour celebrated its 50th anniversary and North Dakota sent a record 15 students. The group sent got to learn about America’s government, history and electric cooperatives.

In order to be sent on the tour, students had to enter an essay writing contest. Students were then selected by their answer for the all expense paid trip.
