N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The James River Family YMCA in Jamestown have some big plans for their future and a name change is just the beginning.

According to Executive Director Frank Conlin, the James River Family YMCA will be changing its name to James River Family Fitness by September 1st. Conlin stated that the change will not affect the equipment, classes or anything else in the center.

James River Family has been a YMCA member since 1980. Frank Conlin stated that the name change was happening because most YMCA’s are located in cities of 25,000 residents or more and Jamestown is under that number.

As for the future of the center, plans have been discussed that would create a new facility for the James River Family center and they will be considered as employees of the Jamestown Parks and Recreation department.
