N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Congressman Kevin Cramer says Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway and Canadian Pacific Railway have publicly filed updated weekly status reports on the backlog in grain shipments.

The figures from BNSF show a total of 1,262 past due rail cars in North Dakota averaging 19.6 days late as of August 15, compared to the report last week which indicated 1,656 past due cars were averaging 22.1 days late.

The Canadian Pacific Railway report shows a total of 21,518 open requests in North Dakota with an average age of 12.7 weeks. The previous report showed 22,158 open requests with an average age of 12.23 weeks.

Cramer says “the progress from BNSF is encouraging, but more still needs to be done. All signs point to a strong harvest this fall, and it is critical agriculture producers have a dependable rail system to get their products to market.”
