(NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown hosted the West Region girls golf tournament Monday at the Jamestown Country Club and punched their ticket to state in the process. Junior Sierra Bennion just missed out on medalist honors with an 18-hole score of 78 which put her in a tie with Katie Kasper of Bismarck High. Kasper won the tournament on the third playoff hole.

The pair have been far and away the best golfers in the WDA in 2014 and will be among the favorites in the state tournament next week, also at the Jamestown Country Club.

Jamestown as a team is headed to state with a third place total of 355, which was seven shots behind Century who won the tournament. Bismarck finished second with 350.

The Jays had two other top-10 finishers; Maria LeFevre finished in 9th with a 91 and Sarah Azure was right behind her with a 92.
