N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown Police and the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office are prepared for the growth coming to Jamestown, but don’t think the public should have anything to fear as far as crime goes.

During a Local Regional Issues Meeting held in Jamestown, Sheriff Chad Kaiser and Officer Robert Opp discussed the change in how each department reported their calls for service. Both departments reported that it may look like crime was down in the community, but the real truth was that the departments were publishing calls for service differently. Here’s Sheriff Kaiser.

Both departments also stated that they were prepared for the increase in population when an estimated 2,000 people will come in to help build the new CHS Fertilizer Plant at Spiritwood. When asked if they were prepared for an increase in possible crimes, Stutsman County Auditor Casey Bradely spoke up.

It’s also in the planning stages for Stutsman County to expand their jail size in the future. More information will follow pending on future conversations and plans.
