N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City Hi-Liner football team scored on the second play from scrimmage and never looked back against Central Dakota on Friday night.
Nate Rodriguez ran for a 79 yard touchdown to give the Hi-Liners an 8-0 lead with 11:01 left to go in the first quarter. Eli Allen ran for a 90 yard touchdown on the next possession for Valley City to make it 16-0.
Valley City’s lone miscue in the first quarter came on a Lucas Jury fumble, which Central Dakota recovered off of a punt return. The Titans scored on a 26 yard rushing touchdown from Jayden Grover on the next play to cut the lead to 16-6 with 4:35 left in the first quarter.
After that, Valley City scored the next 35 points in the game to win 51-15 over Central Dakota.
Valley City improves to 6-1 overall and 5-0 in the West Region. The Hi-Liners cliched a number three seed in the West Region with the win.
