CITY, ND – (NewsDakota.com) It’s almost time for “Take a Kid Fishing Day on Lake Ashtabula north of Valley City.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is partnering with local organizations to host the 26th Annual Take-A-Kid-Fishing-Day at Lake Ashtabula on June 4th.

The event will be held at the Mel Rieman Recreation Area. Children ages 6-10, must pre-register by having a parent or legal guardian call 701-845-2087 or 701-845-2378.

The event is limited to the first 40 kids to register. The registration deadline is Friday, May 27.

Registration includes transportation, equipment, lunch and entertainment. Prizes will be given to each participant.

The Corps is working with the Barnes County Wildlife Federation, Inc.; North Dakota Game & Fish; and Valley City Women of Today to host the event.
