D.C. (NewsDakota.com) – The Department of Transportation has awarded nearly $2 million for infrastructure rehabilitation work at several North Dakota airports.

According to the office of Senator John Hoeven, three grants totaling $1,958,927 to airports in the state, including two local airports.

Edgeley Municipal Airport Authority received $684,572 to fund the construction phase for runway rehabilitation that will maintain structural integrity, rehabilitate the existing general aviation apron and rehabilitation of Taxiway A.

Harvey Municipal Airport Authority $347,723 to improve the visual guidance, enhance safety of aircraft movements and to make the airport more accessible by improving approaches to the runway ends.

Stanley Municipal Airport will receive a majority of the funds with $926,632 that will be used for several other projects.

“Our airports support not only increased economic activity, but also our residents’ quality of life,” Hoeven said. “Today’s grants will support a variety of airport rehabilitation projects that will help to ensure the safety and accessibility of the airports in Stanley, Edgeley and Harvey.”
