N.D. – (NewsDakota.com) The spirit of love and giving is alive at the James River Correctional Center as inmates use their earnings to make necklaces, jewelry, leather wallets, purses, stocking caps and crocheted purses for the less fortunate.

Barnes County Salvation Army spokesman Lee Isensee said the inmates donated the items to the Salvation Army and the Ronald McDonald House for distribution to the needy. Isensee told reporter Steve Urness about the positive effect making jewelry has on the inmates and those receiving the gifts.

Isensee said the gifts will bring joy to many people in need this Christmas in Barnes County and throughout the surrounding area.

This year nine inmates made several handcrafted items that will be distributed to the less fortunate for Christmas by the Barnes County Ministerial Association. Here are a few of those beautifully crafted items.
