N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol stopped a vehicle for minor traffic violations Monday and discovered 183 pounds of marijuana in the vehicle, one of the Highway Patrol’s largest busts.

A Dodge minivan was traveling eastbound on I-94 between Mandan and Bismarck in a construction zone. Driver Harold Miller, 71, of Sacramento, California was stopped for traffic violations. During the stop, the trooper detected a strong odor of marijuana.

Miller admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle. A subsequent search recovered 183 pounds of marijuana with a street value around $700,000. Miller was arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.
