N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The South Central Homeless Coalition is well on their way to helping those in need with diaper and monetary donations, but much more is needed.

Member Cassie DuBray reports that as of Wednesday, $3,425 have been raised including an original donation from Atonement Lutheran Church.

“We don’t have numbers on physical donations our collection sites have received,” DuBray reported.

The coalition is looking to help the region with the shortage of diapers and wipes for those who can’t afford them. The goal was a lofty $5,000, but the need is greater.

McIntosh, LaMoure, Logan, Griggs, Dickey, Foster/Wells, and Barnes County all have a site at their Social Service offices. Edgewood Senior Living, Trinity Lutheran Church and Stutsman County Social Services are all donations sites as well.

Statistics show that low-income families may change a baby’s diaper once a day. Parents say on average, they change a baby’s diaper between 6 and 10 times a day. Assistance programs like SNAP don’t cover the costs of diapers.

Donations will be accepted through August 14th. Learn more by calling 701-252-2841 or visit the Crowd Rise website. Click here for the original story.
