VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- Big runs decided out the outcome of both Hi-Liner games Tuesday. Hosting Wahpeton, the boys lost 76-48 to fall to 1-3 on the season and 0-4 in The EDC. The girls won for the second time in as many games making their record 2-2 and 1-3 in the region.

Friday the boys play in Kindred for a non conference game with The Vikings, both team play at home next Tuesday against West Fargo Sheyenne. All games can be heard on KOVC and NewsDakota.com

Wahpeton 76 vs. VCHS 48

The Hi-Liners grabbed an early lead and were up by as much as 7 when The Huskies started their comeback. Tied at 15 with 7:55 in the opening half Wahpeton got a 3 from Daniel Pithey and would not trailed again. They ended the half on a 22-3 run to lead 37-18 at halftime.

Luther Zetlinger was The Hi-Liners’ lead scorer with 12 points, Reese Huschka added 8 and Matt Lyter 7. Wahpeton’s Zach Manock scored a game high 18, Josh Darwin had 17 and Riley Breuer 12.

GBB: VCHS 62 vs. Wahpeton 48

After holding off a late push in the first half from The Huskies, Valley City took a 27-26 led into the intermission. Gena Cornelius hit an early field goal to put Wahpeton in front for the first time 28-27. The game went back and fourth until tied for the 5th and final time at 44, The Hi-Liners took control outscoring their opponent 18-4 to close out the final 8 and half minutes.

Taryn Dieterle scored 14 in the second half to end the night with 17. Courtney Lloyd scored 14. Mackenzie Pederson and Lindsey Noeske had 8 points a piece. The game’s led scorer was Gena Cornelius from Wahpeton who produced 22.
