GRAND FORKS, N.D. – (NewsDakota.com) – Grand Forks Red River used three big runs in the second half to pull away from Valley City 84-55 in an East Region Tournament play-in game Saturday afternoon in Grand Forks.

With the score tied at 36 at halftime, sixth seed Red River started the second half on a 20-4 run to open up a 56-40 lead. The Riders would open up a 20 point lead with an 16-1 later in the half. Then Will Obioha would finish a 10-0 run with his second dunk of the game giving the Riders their biggest lead of the game at 82-52.

Bryce Enerson led four Red River players in double figures with 19 points and nine rebounds. Tommy Stephenson had 14 points. Obioha had 13 points, four rebounds and a team high five steals. Pierson Painter chipped in 12 points.

Riley Miller led the eleventh seed Hi-Liners with 13 points. Matthew Lyter added 12 points and a team high eight rebounds. Mitchel Taylor came off the bench to net 11 points.

The Roughriders had more steals, 20, than Valley City had field goals, 15.

The Hi-Liners season ends at 4-18. Grand Forks Red River moves on with an 8-14 mark They will face third seed West Fargo Sheyenne Tuesday night at West Fargo.
