JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – This Thursday will be a celebration of America’s homegrown arts and culture at the Downtown Jamestown Arts Market.

The weekly summer event will feature jazz music from two North Dakota Big Bands; F-M Kicks Big Band and Kicks Dixieland Band.

“Jazz is truly an original American art form,” the Arts Center states. “Kicks Big Band, 17-members strong, plays all of your favorites from Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington and many more. And we open the evening with a trip down south to the Crescent City—New Orleans—and the music that was born in the sultry French Quarter, Dixieland Jazz.”

Jamestown Arts Center Executive Director Larry Kopp says the event ties in with what the Arts Center is doing.

Kopp says having a full jazz band on stage will be a real unique experience for event goers.

The event comes as part of the Downtown Arts Market Summer Series. Created by a North Dakota Tourism Grant, the event has brought in live music, food, entertainment, art activities and more to the area.
