NEW ROCKFORD, N.D.  (NewsDakota.com)  After a couple of weeks of practice, the Rockets of New Rockford/Sheyenne High School Football team is ready for their first matchup of the 2018 season.  For the fourth consecutive year, the Rockets and North Prairie Cougars will meet in both teams first game of the season. Friday nights game will be in Rolette starting at 7pm, the Cougars have won all three of the previous meetings.

10th year Head Coach for the Rockets, Elliot Belquist, says the Rockets had a great season last year finishing at 6-4 overall, and going to the second round of the playoffs. They beat Kidder County in the first round in a come from behind victory and then lost to the eventual 9-man champs Wyndmere/Lidgerwood in the second round.  Coach Belquist hopes to build on that with lots of experience coming back.

 

This years Region 2 schedule for NRS changed due to Midway/Minto moving to 6-man, so the Rockets will have a bye week September 14th, and then play two games the following week. Tuesday, September 18th they will travel to Hope to take on Finley/Sharon/Hope/Page for a non-region matchup, and the 21st at Lakota against Nelson County.

 

Coach Belquist says that tonights game will be a good test for his team.
