Lisbon, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—The Lisbon Broncos crowned 4 individual champions at the 2019 Storhaug Invitational wrestling tournament and easily outscored the Eden Prairie Eagles 237 to 169 to capture the team title. South Border finished third with 143.5 points, Carrington was fourth with 135 points, and Central Cass finished fifth wth 130.5 points. There were 18 teams competing in the tournament. Carrington had 3 wrestlers advance to the finals Treston Lura (113), Brecken Lura (126), and Lucas Geiszler (138). Geiszler (31-6) was the only champion for the Cards as he defeated top seeded Parker Larson of Valley City 7-0. Treston Lura (27-11)was the top seed at 113 and lost to Lisbon’s Caleb Nielsen (2 seed) 8-2. Brecken Lura (2 seed) lost to Eden Prairie’s Bryce Dagel (top seed) 5-2. Lisbon had 7 wrestlers reach the finals, Boeden Greenly (106), defeated Jake Deutsch of Central Cass by fall at 5:39 late in the third period, Nielsen’s win over Lura from Carrington, Jordan Sours (152), defeated Brett Wendel of LaMoure by fall at 4:36 of the final period. Gavin Reinke (195)(23-4), defeated Ethan Ellingson of Ellendale-Edgely-Kulm 11-7 to capture his title. Greenly (28-0) and Sours (25-0) remain undefeated on the year. The Broncos also had 3 second place finishers, Levi Schwab (182)(20-6), lost a 3-1 decision to top rated Mark Hastings of Hillsboro-CV. Hastings improved to 29-3 on the year and has not lost to a class B wrestler this year. Sam Rieger (220) (23-6) lost a 3-2 decision to Central Cass’ Cade Merrigan (24-1). Ben Shearer (285) (17-5), lost to Jaden Oestern of Valley City (VC) (26-3), by fall at 4:18 of the final period.

Carrington had 4 other placers in the tournament including Tate Hoggarth (152) and Colton Buskness (195), both finishing in third place. Buskness improved to 36-9 on the season and Hoggarth now sits at 34-10 overall. Matthew Duchscherer (106), finished in fourth place and now has a 33-8 record. Beau Retzlaff (182) finished in fifth place winning by fall over Lane Wolf of South Border at 1:46 of the second period. Retzlaff improved to 21-17 overall.

Other championship matches had Reece Barnhardt (120) (38-0) of Bismarck St. Mary’s (BSM) defeating Luke Leshuk of Hillsboro-CV (HCV) by fall at 3:04 of the second period.
