JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Rural Fire Department’s (JRFD) largest fundraiser returns to the ice February 16th.

Held annually, the Jamestown Rural Fire Department & Knights of Columbus 11th Annual Ice Fishing Tournament has raised thousands of dollars for the JRFD in its history. Secretary/Treasurer and Fire Fighter Travis Lemieux says some of their equipment purchases have been possible due to the derby.

Lemieux says they’re hoping to raise money in this year’s derby to buy new equipment for the department.

Tickets are currently being sold, but Lemieux says they sell out quickly. All funds raised through the derby, raffle, and feed that evening will be used for the JRFD.

Through sponsorship’s and more, the department has a ton of raffle prizes including a GMC Truck, Electric Ion 8″ ice Auger and more.

Registration for the event starts at 9 AM at Pelican Point – Smokey’s Landing. Lemieux says no vehicles will be allowed on the ice and the tournament officially kicks off at 1 PM.

Lemieux pointed out it is a competition, but it’s for a cause and mainly for fun.

Following the derby, the JRFD will host a burger basket feed at the Jamestown Civic Center, hosting the raffle and the band Tripwire starting at 8 PM.

You can find more about the fishing tournament and where you can purchase tickets at jrfd.org.
