19 year old Belcourt man serving a sentence at the Stutsman County Correctional Center has been charged with simple assault after biting a correctional officer on Monday.

Accorrding to Jamestown Police, Justin Poitra bit a female correctional officer on the left side of her face after jumping on her, and wrapping his legs around her head and upper body.

Poitra, who has been incarcerated after five prior assaults and one criminal mischief event that occurred in another state prison, also faces an additional Class C Felony charge; contact by bodily fluid on a correctional officer.

The injured officer was taken to Jamestown Hospital for her injuries and released.
