N.D.(NewsDakota.com)….The annual Jamestown Legion baseball tournament was played at Jack Brown Stadium over the weekend, and the host team came away with the second place trophy.

Coon Rapids, Minnesota went 4-0, and captured the first place hardware, including a pair of wins of Jamestown. The two teams met in the opening round on Friday night, and it was all Coon Rapids, 16-3, and they rematched in the title game Sunday, with Coon Rapids winning 5-4 in eight innings.

Jamestown picked up a couple of wins on Saturday, 11-6 over Devils Lake, and 3-0 over Fargo Metros. Jamestown is 9-18-1 on the season, and will get back into action on Tuesday versus Grand Forks at Jack Brown Stadium. A doubleheader is planned, starting at 5:30p.m.

Post 14 was hurt by six errors, and was outhit 10-4. Coon Rapids blew it open with seven in the fourth and six in the fifth. Brady Anderson took the loss.

Jamestown 11 Devils Lake 6

Post 14 snapped a 3-3 tie with eight in the bottom of the sixth, and held on for the win. Jamestown outhit Devils Lake 12-11. Riley Schafer got the win. Kasey Gengler had a big game with a couple of doubles and four RBI, Danny Fischer had three hits, a double, two runs scored, and two RBI, and Tyler Ukestad had two RBI.

Jamestown 3 Fargo Metros 0

Riley Schafer threw the shutout, giving up only six hits, and struck out five. Brady Anderson and Tony Smith each had RBI singles.

Coon Rapids 5 Jamestown 4 (8 innings)

The rematch was much closer, and it took extra innings for Coon Rapids to pull out the title. Coon Rapids outhit Jamestown 13-7.  Gengler threw a complete game, but took the losse. Jake Stilwell, had three hits, a RBI double, and two run homer.
