CITY (NewsDakota.com)–For the past two seasons, the VCSU Viking football team has been trying to shore up it’s offensive line.
This season, according to head coach Dennis McCulloch, will be no exception.
“There were some kids we thought we’d get back, we have some injuries, we’re going to be thin there,” says McCulloch.
There are some experienced names on the line, like Kevin Murphy, Major Hopp, Charlie Wellman, Zac Johnson, and Taylor Carvalho. After that, the experience drops off, and the Vikings are very young.
“Our front five or six kids will be good, we just can’t have any injuries,” says McCulloch.
One of the Viking playmakers will come from the line in the form of tight end Ken Eliacin. The 6’4″, 237-pounder has shown great progress in pre-season camp.
The Vikings open play Thursday, September 1st, at home hosting Morningside, IA.
