Jamestown, N.D…The Jimmie Football teams hopes of joining the Frontier Conference suffered a set back on Thursday.

The league’s presidents tabled a vote on Jamestown’s application to join the league. A unamimous vote of 10 presidents was needed for approval. At least one school said it would vote no, so the matter was tabled.

When the conference will take another look at the Jimmies is not known. This means the Jimmie football team will have to put together a schedule for 2012 that would be similar to this season. This year, the Jimmies are playing Valley City, Mayville State and Valley City State twice. Without doing this, Jamestown would find it tough to fill a 10 game schedule.

Next year, Dickinson State joins the Frontier, so the Jimmies won’t be able to put the Hawks on the schedule twice. With the loss of four teams from the DAC this year, filling the schedule for 2011 was a struggle, and it probably will be more of a challenge for next season.

Jamestown is competing at the NAIA level this school year as an independent.
