CITY (NewsDakota.com)–Tonight will bring the Viking and Jimmie volleyball team together for the third time this season.
Valley City State travels to Jamestown College tonight for the final match of the season series, and there are Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) championship implications with the match.
Entering the night, the Jimmies lead the conference with a 6-1 record, with the Vikings a match back at 5-2. The battle for the championship is simply that, with no seed in a post-season tournament or bid to nationals on the line, due to both schools’ independent status.
The Vikings won the first match between the schools, a 3-2 (21-25, 25-19, 25-17, 19-25, 15-13) win in Valley City. Rebekah DePesa (Sr., Phoenix, AZ) led the way with 11 kills.
Jamestown College defeated the Vikings at the Mayville State DAC quadrangular with a 3-1 (25-21, 22-25, 25-14, 25-20) win. Katie Zent (Jr.,, Richardton, ND) knocked down 15 kills, and Janna Johnson (Fr., Northwood, ND) added 12.
Match time is set for 7:00 p.m. Prematch coverage will begin at 6:35 p.m. on Dakota Country Radio.
