– The search for a Jamestown man who went missing while ice fishing Sunday will likely stretch into its third day Wednesday.

Searchers were unsuccessful Tuesday in their attempt to locate 49-year-old Darrin Ackerman, who did not return home from an ice fishing trip Sunday on the Jamestown Reservoir. Ackerman’s vehicle and ice house were still on the reservoir Sunday night when he was reported missing, leading authorities to believe he may have fallen through the ice when fishing.

They conducted a grid search with underwater cameras Tuesday, as well as a ground search of shore areas. Stutsman County sheriff Chad Kaiser says search efforts were hampered a bit Tuesday by strong winds that deteriorated the ice.

Kaiser says they will continue the search with underwater cameras on Wednesday, and may also send in divers again like they did Monday. He says the Red River Valley Dive Team may join the search later this week if Wednesday’s efforts are unsuccessful.

Monday’s search was centered at the boat club landing on Jamestown Reservoir near Five Mile Corner north of Jamestown. Kaiser says Tuesday’s search moved a little farther south but was still in the same area.

The Jamestown Fire Department’s Water Rescue Team has been heavily involved in the search, diving and operating the underwater cameras, along with Stutsman County authorities and Jamestown police.
