N.D.- After two periods of play Thursday night at Wilson Arena in Jamestown, it appeared that the Jamestown High School boys hockey team was keeping in stride fairly well with the boys from Bismarck High. Jamestown was only down 2-0, and was only outshot by one going to the final 17 minutes.

And then, three minutes into the third period, a Bismarck shorthanded goal from center ice.

34 seconds later, another Bismarck goal; this one on the power play.

Another goal from the Demons roughly 40 seconds later.

And yet another two goals from the boys from Bismarck in the next two minutes, and when the smoke had cleared, the Jays were torched by Bismarck High 7-0.

“Overall, the first and second period, we were in it, all you need to do is score.” said Jamestown head coach Matt Stockert “The game would have been different (going to the third) had we been able to take care of our opportunities. They got five in the third, but I think part of that is the kids trying to do a bit too much out there at times, and they’re trying to make something happen. I’m not going to knock the kids, they do a great job getting after it, but we have to change some things if we’re going to beat a team like Bismarck High.”

Ben Walz started his second game of the season for the Jays, and took the loss, facing 42 shots from the Demons. With the win, Bismarck improves to 4-2, and 4-0 in the Western Dakota Association.

Jamestown falls to 0-5 and 0-4 in the WDA. They will look for their first win of the season on Saturday afternoon as they welcome the Williston Coyotes. Coverage on 103.1 The Raven starts at 3 p.m. with faceoff at 3:15.
