N.D.-The Oakes Tornadoes didn’t have an answer in stopping Lisbon’s Nick Anderson on Thursday night. The standout senior had 28 points to lead the Broncos to a 53-37 win over Oakes on Thursday night.
The first quarter went back and forth, with the two teams swapping leads. A Tanner Zetocha steal and ensuing three-point play gave the Tornadoes a 11-9 lead. It would be their last lead of the night, as the Broncos ended the quarter on a 6-0 run to lead 15-11. Anderson scored the first eight points of the 2nd quarter for the Broncos, and later received some help from his teammates. 3-pointers from Jenner Manske and Willy Roman helped Lisbon to a 35-19 halftime lead. Oakes never got any closer than 12 points in the 2nd half, as their early-season offensive woes continued.
Simon Maddock led Oakes with 13 points, 10 in the first half. Maddock left the game after tweaking an ankle late in the 1st quarter, but returned early in the following stanza. Tanner Zetocha added 11 points before fouling out with 2:27 to play. Victor Cordova added 7 points off the bench, all in the 2nd half.
With the win, Lisbon evens it overall record at 2-2, and their District 1 record at 1-1. Anderson has scored over 20 points in both Lisbon wins this season. Oakes drops to 0-2 overall, 0-1 in District 1 play. The Tornadoes travel to Britton, SD next Tuesday night and host Milnor on Dec. 15.
