N.D- The Oakes Area Chamber of Commerce has named Donna Scheer the recipient of the “Pride Of Oakes” for 2011.

Scheer was presented with the award on Friday morning while she was substituting at Oakes elementary. Upon hearing that Scheer had won, the elementary students began chanting her name.

 The following is an excerpt from her nomination form. Donna is the type of person who is always willing to help where she can. Donna worked as a teacher at the Ellendale Elementary School for many years, yet she has always remained active with Oakes school activities, community clubs and activities and in her church.

Donna has since retired from teaching full-time and now does substitute teaching. When asked to substitute at Oakes Elementary, Donna is always eager to when she can! She enters the building with such a positive, friendly attitude. The students enjoy having her as their substitute teacher. She also comes regularly with delicious baked goodies for the staff!

Donna not only subs at area schools, she also has part time jobs at businesses around town. She often does her other jobs after subbing at school all day. Donna is someone you can count on to do a great job when she subs for any of our teachers. She often stays later than required to make sure she has all papers corrected for the day!
