– For the second time this season, it took overtime to decide a winner between Jamestown and Bottineau in WDA hockey, and for the second time this season it was the Braves coming away with the victory.
Friday night at Wilson Arena in Jamestown, the two teams went to a shoot out format to determine the winner after the game was tied 4-4 after overtime. The Braves won the games when they scored on their first two chances while Jamestown failed on its two attempts.
Despite the loss, Jamestown gained a point in the standings and moves into a tie for sixth place in the WDA with Mandan. Bottineau remains undefeated in the West Region and gains two points in the standings and move into a second place tie with Bismarck and Minot.
The Jays led early 2-9, thanks to goals by junior Jake Stilwell and senior Riley Schafer. Stilwell would strike again in period two with his team-leading 11th of the season, and Schafer scored his third of the year in periods three to knot the game at four.
Senior Brady Anderson finished the night with three assists. Junior goalie Tygh Yatskis kicked out 34 saves. The Braves were led by senior Logan Millican with three goals, and he now leads the state with 15 goals on the season.
