N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- Friday night at Jerry Meyer Arena the Blue Jay girls got their first win in the WDA by dismantling the Dickinson Midgets. It was the Kyra Dewald Show in the first half she scored 15 points and the Jamestown defense was stout allowing just nine points.

The girls were able to coast to a 73-41 victory in the second half, their lead growing to as many as 39.

The three-quarter court press forced Dickinson into 22 first-half turnovers. MiKayla Orr and Dewald seemed to have their hand on every pass in the opening 18 minutes.

The Blue Jays improve to 2-5 (1-3) on the season with their second straight win.

A day after the new Class A basketball polls came out with the Jamestown boys receiving votes in the Top-5 they were back to action. A power outage with just seconds left in the first-half caused some problems, but the real issues for the Midgets came trying to stop the Blue Jay offense as they rolled to a 64-48 win.

Nate Willer was too much for the Midgets in the first-half scoring 10 points and having his way inside. Danny Fischer and Dyllan Anderson were quiet early but Anderson’s pull-up jumper just before the half to give the Jays a 10-point lead set the tone for the rest of the night.

Fischer spent more time at the free throw line than the entire visiting squad. He shot 9-12 from the line as part of his game-high 19. Anderson added 17 on a 7-12 shooting, it appears as though the senior is finding his rhythm after a slow start.

Up next the Blue Jays will battle Williston at Jerry Meyer Arena with the girls game beginning at 3:30. You can hear the game on KQDJ-AM 1400 with the pregame show starting around 3:20.
