CITY  (NewsDakota.com)–Valley City’s last three games had taken all of their 36 minutes, and in two cases, 40 minutes, to be decided.

Monday night in Valley City against Fargo Davies, it took less than six.

In the first 5:34 of game time, the Hi-Liners had turned the ball over nine times and called two timeouts, and Davies had hit seven threes and taken a 23-4 lead.

After 8:26 seconds of play, the rout had started, with Davies up 33-11.  At halftime, the rout was dramatic, with Davies up 62-30.  When time ran out, the rout was total, with a 100-57 Eagles win and a ninth-straight Hi-Liner loss.

Eagles sophomore Andrew Kozlowski, the Eastern Dakota Conference’s (EDC) third-leading scorer, had more than his average at the break, scoring 24 of his game-high 26 at halftime, including four of Davies’ nine three-point shots.  Mark Potter added four more threes and 16 at the break.

The Hi-Liners competed as well as they could in the second half, but never really had a path back into the game.  Chase Carpenter scored 14 to lead three Hi-Liners in double figures, with Josh Magnuson knocking in 11 and Tayler Lentz adding 10.

Lentz had the bright spot for the Hi-Liners.  The junior’s energy level never faded, as all of his scoring came after halftime, and he continued to pressure Davies ball handlers until fouling out late.

Davies flexed their bench, with Brady Jordahl scoring eight of his 14 after halftime, and Connor Camrud hitting eight of his 10 after the break.  Eleven different Eagles scored.

Valley City drops to 0-8 in EDC play, 2-9 overall.  They face Lisbon in non-league play on the road next Tuesday.
