(NewsDakota.com)- Coming off wins at the DAC Mid-season Tournament Championship last weekend at the Bubble in Valley City, the Jimmie basketball teams stayed hot taking down Mayville St.

The women finally found the offensive outburst they have been waiting for on Saturday when they hit triple-digits at Mayville St. in their 101-82 win. Four Jimmies ended the night in double-figures led by Bridget Schuneman’s 23 point effort.

In the first half, Jamestown built a 33-17 lead, but Mayville’s Hailey Longtin jump started a 14-2 to pull the Comets within four. However, it was the Jimmies who closed out the half on a run with six in-a-row to take a 43-33 lead at half.

Throughout the second half, Longtin continued to pour in the shots and would finish with a game-high 27, but the Jimmies had an answer on the offensive end. They had been searching for an offensive identity over the last few games and they finally began to hit from behind the arc.

Casey Geffre and Carly Jensen each hit a pair from beyond the arc as the Jimmies broke double-digits. They would finish with 13 a piece.

The Jimmies improve to 21-4 and will host Valley City St. on Wednesday night at the Civic Center.

Having just played the Comets six days earlier in Valley City, the Jimmies knew what to expect and it was nearly the same result. Last Sunday it was a 66-53 win for JC and on a Saturday it was a 66-51 win for the Jimmies.

Travis Burley had his hands full on the defense end with Junior Gus Kueber, but still managed to make an impact on the offense end with 20 points. He also pulled down 10 boards.

The play of the night, came in the second-half with just over three minutes remaining following a steal by Burley he hit Davon Thomas on a outlet pass for a dunk on the other end. It put the Jimmies up by seven and they were never threatened again.

It was the 20th win of the season for Coach Matt Murken’s squad. They will be action on Wednesday night as well at the Civic. The games can be heard on Classic Hits KQDJ-AM 1400 starting at 5:30pm.
