(NewsDakota.com) – A pesky squirrel caused southwest Jamestown to lose power for about 15-20 minutes Monday morning.

Jeff Hoff, customer service manager for Otter Tail Power Company, says a squirrel found its way into a substation, likely fried itself and tripped the circuits, leaving southwest Jamestown without power at about 11:20 a.m.

The squirrel was somehow able to bypass a squirrel guard, put in place to keep an incident like this from happening.

“It’s pretty odd the squirrel would do that, especially with a squirrel guard there,” said Hoff.

Power was restored at about 11:40 a.m.
