(NewsDakota.com)- The Jimmies welcomed the Dickinson St. Blue Hawks to the Civic Center Saturday night.
The No. 7 Jamestown men were coming off a disappointing loss to VCSU, but responded to hit eight first-half three-pointers en route to a 81-67 victory. Davon Thomas got the party started early in the game with eight quick points coming of the bench, including a pair of trey’s from the same corner.
Drew Preiner got hot as well hitting a trio of shots from beyond the arc in the opening half, he would finish with a team-high 17.
The Jimmies built their lead to 19 in the second-half after leading by 17 at half. Dickinson St. used a late charge to pull within seven at 64-57, that would be as close as they got. Jamestown hit their free throws down the stretch to put away the Blue Hawks.
It was the 21st win of the season for the JC men, they improved their record to 21-5. A rematch with VCSU is looming on Wednesday night.
After trailing for the majority of the first 30 minutes the women took the lead and never looked back. They used a 48-point second half to take out the Blue Hawks 72-62.
Kylee Bittner caused headaches for the Jimmies throughout the game, finishing with 25 points on an efficient 7 of 11 shooting.
But the Jimmies found their answer in the second-half thanks to Hannah Steele and Bridget Schuneman, the teams two All-Americans.
Schuneman finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Steele lead the way with 16.
The women improve to 23-3 with the win.
Wednesday night the Jimmies will meet the rival Valley City St. Vikings at the Bubble in Valley City. The games will start with the women taking the floor at 5:30pm.
