CITY (NewsDakota.com) Work on the Valley City Water Treatment plant’s nano-filtration and reverse osmosis upgrade is about 80 percent complete.

City Administrator David Schelkoph says a 30-day public comment period over a state Health Department permit to discharge waste water into the river or holding pond before the plant can operate is pending. He says it’s centered on the cfs flow rate in the Sheyenne River. Schelkoph says right now the river is flowing a 60 cfs and if it were to drop below 30 cfs the waste water would be held in a holding pond.

Schelkoph says the state is still in the process of putting the permit together and then the city will have a 30-day public comment period concerning this issue.
