(NewsDakota.com) Our mild winter weather has helped advance many construction projects in the state. For the Army Corps of Engineers this includes construction of a control structure at Tolna Coulee.

Bill Csajko is a project manager with the Army Corps of Engineers. He says the structure is designed to allow a controlled release of Devils Lake water into the Sheyenne River once the lake level surpasses the natural overflow point. Csajko says the construction is close to being on schedule, allowing for it to be operational in April…

Opponents of the structure are calling for additional study of the potential impacts the structure could have in terms of erosion and additional water in the lower Sheyenne.

People to Save the Sheyenne President Archie Moore and Ad Hoc Downstream Group Co-coordinator Madeline Luke and their groups believe answers to this questions should be addressed before these projects are operating this spring.
