(NewsDakota.com) The North Dakota Highway Patrol has released the names of those involved in a two vehicle accident on Highway One five miles south of Interstate 94 southwest of Valley City Monday.

The Patrol says the driver of the car, 16-year-old Ashley Meyer of Oakes died at the scene, and her passenger 17-year-old Danielle Brown also of Oakes was transported to a Fargo hospital and is being treated for serious injuries.

Four others in a van were also injured in the crash. The driver 79-year-old Richard Olson of LaMoure, and his 3 passengers; 79 year-old Rebecca Olson of LaMoure and Janice and Paul McIntosh of Jamestown were transported to Mercy Hospital and treated for injuries after the crash.

Highway Patrol Sgt. Josh Rude says the northbound car driven by Meyer lost control on the slush-covered road and began to spin into the southbound lane where it was struck on the driver side by the southbound van driven by Mr. Olson. Rude says the crash remains under investigation.
