(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High School is getting more than just a facelift these days.

Along with the replacements of such items as door handles and the occasional touch up on the walls, the school is more than halfway done in adding new locker rooms as well as an exercise room on the north side of campus.

One of two new locker rooms being constructed at Oakes High School, with the lockers being added on this day.

Oakes Superintendent Art Conklin talks about the current progress of the project.

Each locker room will have a group of shower stalls.

The locker room/exercise room project is expected to be completed by the end of the school year.

In addition, in the summertime, work will commence on the replacement of the current bleacher system in the south gym.

The seats in between the basketball goals will be moved to the stage area on the other side, those on the opposite sides of the goals will be moved to the north part of the gym, and the void will be filled with theater style seats. All photos by Jason Metko.

The south gym is scheduled to host the Class B District 1 volleyball and girls basketball tournaments as well as the Region I volleyball tournament next school year.
