(NewsDakota.com) The oil boom of western North Dakota is affecting housing and increasing business in the central North Dakota city of Carrington.

An unbelievable time, that’s how Carrington Mayor Don Frye describes the situation in his community. He said a housing shortage in the city is tied directly to the oil boom in the western part of the state.

Frye said Carrington is a thriving crossroads for those heading to the west into oil country. He said on any given night the town’s three hotels are full and you can see hundreds of semi’s parked around the community.

One down-side is all the traffic passing through the community can make it difficult at times to make left-turns onto the main highways that run through the town.
