T. Lerud, age 69, of Valley City, ND, died Friday, April 06, 2012 at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City. 

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 11th at Grace Free Lutheran Church in Valley City.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Grace Free Lutheran Church.  A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday evening at the church.  Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery near Valley City.            

Sharon Tallette Aukland, the daughter of Thomas “Tobe” and Eleanor (Larson) Aukland, was born April 21, 1942 in Valley City.  Sharon grew up and attended school in Valley City and graduated from Valley City High School in 1960.  After her graduation, Sharon worked at the American National Bank for a short time.  In January, 1961 she became engaged to her high school sweetheart, Harvey Lerud.  Harvey and Sharon were married on February 28, 1961 at First Lutheran Church in Valley City.  The couple then moved to New Port, Rhode Island for two years where Harvey was stationed with the US Navy.  In 1963, they moved back to Valley City and in 1964, they managed and were chaperones at the Teen Canteen for ten years.  After running the Canteen, Sharon was fortunate enough to be a stay at home mother and raise her children.  Later, Sharon became more involved and was referred to as the “Boss” of Lerud Honey Farms.  Sharon was known by many as a true friend, she was always loyal and treated everyone as family.  Sharon was also famous for always having time for coffee, to be talking to someone on the telephone or finding time to shop.  Sharon was a wonderful wife and the best mother and grandmother a child could ask for.           

Sharon is survived by her husband of 51 years, Harvey, Valley City, ND; her children, Shelley (Craig) Larson, Bismarck, ND and Michael (Sarah) Lerud, Valley City, ND; three grandchildren Paige and Annika Larson and Jack Lerud; one sister-in-law, Jodi Aukland, Bismarck, ND; Nephews, Rich (Nicolle) Aukland, Fargo, ND, Tony (Donna) Aukland, Bismarck, ND and Rebecca (Doug) Palbicki, Minneapolis, MN, Timothy Sorum, Bismarck, ND and Janelle Aukland, Columbia, SC.           

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Richard T. Aukland.
