Pfutzenreuter Johnson, 97, of Oakes, ND, formerly of Hecla, SD, passed away April 8, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Society, Oakes, ND.

Meda Louise Meyer, daughter of Herman and Carrie (Frohling) Meyer was born June 7, 1914 near Hecla, South Dakota, where she grew up and attended school. She was united in marriage to Adolph Pfutzenreuter on March 30, 1931, and to this union five daughters were born. Adolph passed away in July of 1974. In 1983 Meda moved to Oakes, where she enjoyed working at the Nutrition Center and the Senior Center. Meda married William “Bill” Johnson December 30, 1987. He died in May of 1995. Meda became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in June of 2010. Meda’s home was the center for family gatherings, and she enjoyed entertaining and cooking for family and friends.

She is survived by daughters, Darlene Dell, Aberdeen, SD, Carol (Gene) Luttrell, Hecla, SD, Beverly Tyrrell, Wichita, KS, Gloria Johnson, Coleraine, MN, and Karen (Ross) Treeby, Davis, CA; a brother, Carl Meyer, Ludden, ND; a sister-in-law, Geraldine Johnson, Oakes, ND; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Meda was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, five brothers, six sisters, two granddaughters, and one grandson.

Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m Friday, April 20, 2012  at the Houghton Alliance Church, Houghton, SD.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 19, 2012 from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Oakes, ND and Friday, April 20, 2012 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Houghton Alliance Church, Houghton, SD.

Burial will be at the Hecla City Cemetery near Hecla.
