CITY (NewsDakota.com) The Valley City Area Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring a Candidate Forum at the Valley City Hi Liner Activity Center gymnasium on Tuesday, May 22nd at 7:00 p.m. 

Candidates for City Commission and County Commission have been invited to participate.  The moderator will be Keith Heuser, Administrator at Mercy Hospital and current Chamber Board President. 

All candidates will have the opportunity to introduce themselves and explain why they are running for the position, respond to prepared questions from the moderator and if time allows questions from the audience, and provide closing comments.

Former Mayor Mary Lee Nielson, former city commissioner Kenneth Evenson, Valley City businessman Robert Drake, Dr. Madeline Luke and Arthur Frieze will be on the June, 12 citywide ballot. The five a seeking to open positions on the city commission being incumbents George Dutton and Jon Wagar will not seek re-election.

Meanwhile Barnes County Commissioners Cindy Schwehr and Jon Frohlich are the only declared candidate to run in the June 12 primary election. If the two of the them are unchallenged they’ll run unopposed in the November election for another 4 year term.
